First Day Preparation

Below is a post that I sent out today through CTLS Parent. I hope everyone received it through the CTLS Parent app, and even through email depending on your notification settings. I wanted to post it on the blog as well to ensure everyone received the information. Moving forward, we will be utilizing CTLS Parent as our main communication method. You can send me a message through CTLS Parent just as you would an email 😊 Please continue to check the CTLS Parent app to stay up to date with important information sent out from the district, Mr. Pritz, and myself. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

CTLS Parent Post:

We are so excited for Monday, and we have worked really hard getting everything prepared to make this as smooth as possible for parents and students. Here are quite a few housekeeping details (I promise our message will not always be this lengthy) as we prepare for school on Monday:

1. Please remember to take the Beginning of the Year Parent Survey. It really helps me get to know your kiddos!

2. Here is a link to the Virtual Meet and Greet & Open House PDF that was emailed out on Tuesday for your reference

3. We would like for parents to sit down with students at some point on Sunday to review the Digital Learning Expectations located within the PowerPoint that was sent out on Tuesday.  Please reiterate to students that they should remain muted unless otherwise directed from their teacher and they should not use the chat feature to chat with friends.  They also should not change their name.  It is important that we learn everyone’s name and can put a name with a face
😊 This really helps our synchronous sessions run more smoothly.

4. Please refer to the small slip of colored paper that was sent home in the communication folder at the Drive Through Meet and Greet that has the step-by-step instructions for Monday morning.

5. We encourage parents and students to log in this weekend and explore the platform together so that it is not brand-new Monday morning.

6. Please have your bag of supplies nearby, but do not do anything with the supplies that were given at Meet and Greet.  We will guide students through setting up their binders and journals at some point in the upcoming weeks.

7. Parents should have downloaded the CTLS Parent app.  We will be using this for all communication going forward.  We suggest adjusting your notification settings to come to your phone so that you don’t miss a beat!

**Several parents have requested for additional people to be added to emails, as of right now, the enrolling adult will have to contact the Kemp’s office staff.

8. We have worked really hard to prepare for a smooth Monday morning, so we expect everything to be okay ðŸ˜Š If for some reason you can’t log in Monday morning, don’t panic!  We will send a back-up Zoom link, so please just look for communication from us on CTLS Parent and please message us through CTLS Parent to let us know you are having technical issues. We have prepared things to send out in the event that this happens, so please don’t stress!

9. When your students GO LIVE in CTLS Learn,  it will prompt students to launch either the web app or the Zoom App. The best option is the Zoom app. It will prompt a quick update which will not take long at all. If the app does not work, you can connect again and just use the web app.

10. If you are experiencing technical issues, please message us through CTLS Parent.  We will get to you as soon as we have a free moment.  Please know that we may not be able to respond right away if we are live with students.

**If you have a school-issued device** We have been instructed to submit work orders, so when you message us through CTLS Parent, PLEASE AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE THE BARCODE NUMBER (which is the asset number we will need to include in the work order) LOCATED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LAPTOP AND IS COMPOSED OF BOTH LETTERS AND NUMBERS.

Please see  CCSD Virtual FAQs for student/parent resources.

11. Our first read loud is the book A Long Walk to Water written by Linda Sue Park.  This book will be used along with our reading lessons, so we would love for each student to secure their own copy so they can participate fully in our reading lessons. If you purchase the book, please do not let students begin reading without us or read ahead.  We would like for you to have your book by next Friday, August 21 ðŸ˜Š

Again,  I am excited to see the kids’ smiling faces Monday morning! Let’s all cross our fingers that all goes well on Monday and for a smooth first day of virtual learning. Thank you all in advance for your continued support and patience. Have a wonderful weekend!

All About Me

Hello and welcome to fourth grade! My name is Ashley Taylor and I am absolutely thrilled to be a member of the Kemp family. I grew up going to Cobb County Schools and it is an honor to be teaching in one now. I attained my degree in early childhood education at Kennesaw State University and my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership through the American College of Education. This will be my 10th year teaching. I have had many valuable experiences at Kemp Elementary where I have learned proficient teaching strategies and positive classroom management skills. I have known my entire life that I wanted to be a teacher and I have given my all to fulfill that dream. As a child, I absolutely loved school and I remember every teacher I have had. Now, it is my turn to be "the inspirational teacher" for my students. All children deserve the highest quality education available and it is my goal to create life-long learners. I look forward to meeting all of you and to a very successful year!
